Coming to this one a little late, but I bought a pair of Nike Air Cesium a few months ago and absolutely love them. I have quite possibly the flattest feet you're ever likely to meet and the painful knees that invariably go with them. After trying various shoes (and various knee supports), I thought I'd go for the Cesiums. OK, my main motivation was that they were the only dark coloured motion control shoe I could find...

After wearing them a few times I thought I'd still yet to find a running shoe that 'fitted'. But after a few weeks of running with no pain in my knees (and with no knee support), I fell in love with them. Now it may just be a spurious link, but it's now two months down the line and I'm injury free, loving the feel and the look of the trainers and am actually thinking about buying a few pairs now in case they all run out :-)

So for this runner, Nike doesn't sell rubbish!

Shame they don't do a female version - I've heard they are good and light as well.

I loved my nike structure triax 9 so much I have just gone out and bought the structure triax 10. I have run in saucony and mizuno before but for me Nike are the best so far. I did try some brookes on which I quite liked but stuck with Nike for now.

Still using Mayflys. Still breaking PB's. Don't rate the rest though!

Talking

My son trains in Nike Air Structure Triax 10.

They're the only trainers that suit his weird feet!

Nike Zoom Vomeros for me. They feel great and offer loads of cushion.

RE: Nike Shoes are rubbish just my thought anyway!

I started running in the Nike Air Runners choice 2005 model and found the first shoe to be satisfactory, didn't cause blisters or problems with my joints, however when i needed to replace them i did so with the same model and got 3 blisters on a small 6 mile run, i returned them and swapped for another pair thinking i had a faulty pair, but ran 1/2 marathon getting 2 blisters and then a 6 mile race and had 4 more blisters !! I have now moved to Reebok and ran well over 60 miles in the last 12 days and not one sore or blister !

I'd be surprised if elite runners such as Paula Radcliffe use "off the shelf" shoes. Cycling pros often use (or used to use) their preferred shoe design with a sponsors logos on them.

Customs Only

All cycling Pro brands "and NIKE is one of these brands" make Custom soled shoes on request and receipt of enough funds. 600-1K for the mold to the talentless rich (me i'm poor and talentless). If Paula was a cyclist she would have customs on. I expect the same in running world.

Personally I don't wear nike's, but i'm sure they're not all bad as plenty of people seem to manage fine with Nike trainers. Then there's the Nike Mayfly's, again I've never experienced them myself but i've not heard people commend any other race shoe as highly!

General view I get from what I've read is that pro's will tend to run in branded shoes that are custom made for them, though (okay this may purely be due to the hefty paycheck she must recieve) I've read Paula praising what she's seen at Nike's HQ.

Either way, I'm an asics man for the time being
