I've just checked with Brett and this weeks launch is going ahead. Helpers need to be there for 08:30 but can you email first if you want to help otherwise turn up ready to run at 09:00.

I think that parkrun really need to promote the event. It's not shown as an event on their website and other than a few posts on Facebook (by 'fans' not parkrun) and the occasional Tweet from the team at Lakeside, there appears to have been no promotion at all.

That's how parkruns work though through word of mouth - they never put them on the site until they about to be officially launched. They only have a couple of staff there are limits to what they can do all the events are managed by local champions and volunteers.

You only got advance notice of it here because I happen to know a few people from another site that been involved with it.

That's great. Thanks. I guess the more people that know about it, the more likelihood of finding volunteers though.

Yes its a bit like chinese whispers though because you'll only look on the park run website if you know about park runs.

Great launch this morning we had 54 finishers. There was a technical problem with the timing but someone stepped in to do some manual timings.

Thanks to everyone that came along I was the one handing out the tokens as you crossed the line.
