We ran it and really enjoyed it. It's a wonderful course, excellent organisation (apart from a slight hiccough at the prize giving) and a good quality T-shirt. Beats all your road running! It was made even better for us when, by some miracle, I was 1st MV65 (at 78 yrs old!) and my wonderful partner was 2nd LV60.
How did you do Rob?

I must agree with you that the organisation was excellent and the run was perfect ( I would say that though as I live 1 mile from the main gate) I run, walk the dog and cycle with the children around the estate many times each week
I didn't stay for the presentation but I was in the Under 40 mens category so no prizes for me. I did 1hr 28min 29secs and came 71...I am very happy with that.
I Plotted the course on mapmyrun click here
http://beta.mapmyrun.com/route/detail/19021008/
The climb data is great...hills are cool

Total ascent on MapMyRun (190m) is totally different from Garmin (1,520ft), but whichever is right it was darn hilly! You can read my report of the race on my Run for your Life website.
My partner is a member of the National Trust and has been all round Lanhydrock House and grounds on previous Cornish holidays. It really is a beautiful place. We'll most likely be back again next year.
Cheers!

Great race report and what a fantastic result for you. It was hot, but as you say the tree cover is extensive which helped alot. I was very dusty by the end though.
As for your garmin climb figures they are right but the garmingps logs any climb where as the mapmyrun stats just highlights the significant climbs...if its really possible not to call any hill not significant
See you next year and few others too

Hi, I was thinking about the ggarmin and my plot difference. I plotted the course by hand, could you send the garmin gpx file from your watch. I would like to uploaded it to maomyrun and compare how accurate my manual plot is (its hard to see some of the paths due to the tree cover

Er, I would if I knew how. Give me some instructions. I'm using Sportracks software and haven't a clue about exporting data. Do I send it to you in a private message/email? The data is still on my watch.
Cheers.

Ha, I've just had a look at there website if you use the 'Export to GoogleEarth' option instructions below
Quote:
Select any activity in SportTracks and you are only two clicks away from opening the route in Google Earth where you can "fly" around your route over three dimensional terrain - no export / import or data manipulation needed!
The export dialog gives you numerous export options such as: route line color, width and transparency, start & finish markers with time, pace and heart-rate statistics, and an option to save the generated .kml file to email to your friends.
|
Then send it to my email address
Rob

Hey sounds like you both had really good runs - Well done. (I suffered a bit in the heat and finished in 1 hour 44 but, what a lovely course! Definitely one to be done again I think.)
