Well done! How did yours go?
I am dying to get back in the pool and make up for my poor swim, however I have a 5km charity run tomorrow with work so want to make sure I am properly rested, I have a bit of pressure on my shoulders now as the only 'runner' doing it, while a couple of my much younger and fitter colleagues have entered for a laugh and one of them did his one and only training run on Saturday and ran 8.5min/miles, I must beat him! Plus it is the first 5k race I have done in ages and I should set an official pb so want it to be a good one - my previous official pb was 26 something, while I did 23.5 last week so nice and easy.

My Tri went well thanks 1hr 21, it was a 400m , 16 miles, 3.5 miles so a little further. Had a horrible stitch on the run so walked that off as well but all good and ready for Wimbleball. As for swimming tonight I understand, rest is good if your running tomorrow.

That's a great time well done! Out of interest what was your swim leg? I couldn't work out on ours if it was purely the swim or until we reached transition.
Is wimbleball this weekend? I bet you are excited?!
Well this evening I have entered the bath sprint tri in mid July, all looks good although the swim is 750m in a 50m pool so a proper sprint, I have some work to do, I need to double my distance and learn tumble turns in 6 weeks, the challenge is on!!

I did 30 lengths (750m) this morning without stopping, bilateral breathing all the way and without any warmup lengths -chuffed to bits!!!
I did it in a time of 17.32 which is pretty slow so now I need to think about increasing the pace - i'm starting to think it might be time to have a few lessons...

Well done, to get faster you need to do sets. Say 10x100m on 1min 55. It helps you pace properly. What ON means is swim a set in 1min 50 then 5 sec rest. I do lots of this type of training

Thanks for the tip! I will have to give that a try I think - I am getting to the stage where I can just go up and down and it's getting a bit samey so need something to push me forward.
Went again this morning, new time of 17.05 so getting there! My target is sub 15 minutes

Good swimming. Now to get your time over 750 you need to swim at 2:00/100metres and currently your doing 2:16/100m. I suggest you do 10 x 100m on 2:00min then have 30 secs rest. It will get you used to swimming the correct even pace. The next time shorten the rest to 20.
See how it feels. Don't forget to warmup with an easy 200m and cool down afterwards with the same.
Cheers
Rob

Just read your post, and yes, 2:00/100m is the aim, seems like an achieveable target and a decent pace (without setting any records). Anyway I went again this morning with a little more emphasis on pace and knocked a minute off, 16.05, so am very happy with that, 2.08 ish per 100m?
Your suggestion makes sense, I know I can swim at the 2 min pace (my first 100m this morning was 1.58), so keeping that up with a rest in between makes perfect sense. I will let you know how I get on, thanks for all your help!!
Are you all set for Sunday then?? Nervous at all?

Oh yes and I have recruited a friend to teach me tumble turns, I am sure that will save me a couple of seconds per turn, maybe 8-10 secs per 100m?

Mate thats amazing! Well done!!!
I can't believe that swim time, if my calculations are right (they're probably not), you're doing just under a km in the time it takes me to do 750m, and open water as well - very impressive!!
How much did it cost you to enter out of interest? i'm sure I looked and next year it costs £295, but I may be wrong. I'm defintely up for doing one in the next year or two, I am doing two more sprints this year (Bath and Bideford), and then getting into it properly next year, will probably do a couple of olympic distances.
In answer to your question on your other thread - hell yes get yourself to Lanzarote!! Ironman!!!!!

Yes I was very happy with the swim, averaged 1:40min / 100m. As for entry it's £210 this year for Wimbleball! I'm going to calm myself before jumping into any expensive race and do a few Sprint tri's and maybe a 100 mile cyclosportive in october.
Keep up the good work with the swimming. I'm going to improve my run times, which means getting my knees back on track as that's what slowed me down

My friend who did the sprint with me apparently filled in the entry form for Wimbleball online and then chickened out
I think I'm going to aim for 2013 for my first 70.3, I can't afford it this year as I am getting married in September and then we are off on an expensive honeymoon in December so funds are limited to say the least!
I had a bit of a go at the intervals you suggested this morning, I was partly forced to due to some muppets in the pool who were using the fast lane as a social discussion area, meaning I couldn't string more than half a dozen lengths together before having to stop!
I did 4 lots of 100m in less than 2 mins each and found it ok, 30s rest in between.
Getting there!
