Never read it...
Difficult to get that sort of books over here... Maybe I should be a bit more open and start buying over the internet...

I suspect that the Ron Hill books are long-since out of print; so the only copies you're likely to come across would be on the 'net.
when I first read them (there are two volumes... very detailed at times!) over 20 years ago, I was inspired to change my whole approach to training, and as a result I improved quite dramatically.

Was that a matter of motivation/inspiration?
Or was it technical/training changes that you applied to your training?

Inspiration/motivation/attitude/application...
It's when I first "learned" to train more than once a day.
I used Ron Hill's experiences as an example, and applied them to my own situation.
A great deal of his material for the books was derived from his own meticulous and detailed training diaries.

Before Ron Hill there was Arthur Keily, the great Derby AC runner who ran Olympic Marathon in Rome 1960.His biography is similar to Ron's ,filled with inspiration, what a racer.I first saw him in the 1950's winning the classic Liverpool Pembroke 20 mile road race.He also ran about 3hr7mins for London Marathon when aged 70 yrs.
Personally,I have had a handwritten training diary since 1962 and it is great to read back and wonder how we did it.Oh! to be young again. Enjoy it while you have it.

Yes, I've read Arthur Keily's book too. He had a fantastic attitude and approach. Unfortunately I lent the book out ages ago, and can't remember who's got it.

I react the same way when I read my old logs. How did I do that?! Part of me (mistakenly) thinks that I can still do it.
I still feel the same. 100% effort will always feel like 100% effort.......
... Only the results achieved from the efforts just get slower and slower
