I was around 9stone something when I was 16/17 (before I passed my driving test), then things went downhill I'd kill to be that weight again!

Really? I'm 5' 10" and weigh 12:3. Throughout my adult life until around a year ago, I've been between 14 & 15 stone. When I was 16 I too was around 9 stone and I was continually ridiculed, far more than I ever was at 15 stone.

I would secretly like to loose another half a stone, but friends say that I will look squawny and that I am absolutely fine as I am. Sometimes I think that maybe they are jealous of my fitness, but if I wear my sensible head, I know they are right..... I just need to convince the rest of me!

I don't know what your weight is Richard, but I'm sure your not short enough to make 9 stone look good!

I was 12 stone when I was 16/17. I'm now 11.5 stone and I'm 34. I'm 6' 1" and think I'm at my perfect weight. I'm not really scrawny. I think I just look healthy.

I seem to be hovering around the 12st 7lb mark, but have been more like 12st 10lb'ish for the past week or so... i'm 5'10"-5'11" (i'll measure myself properly one day!).

9st would almost certainly be too skinny for me, 10.5st would be perfect for performance.

I too have plenty of people telling me I don't need to lose any more weight, though firstly they don't seem to appreciate that it's slowing me down - that I want to lose weight for performance, not because I feel bad about how I look! ...Secondly - as society as a whole becomes fatter and fatter, the perception of normal is changing - and people see slightly overweight people as being more healthy than those who are lighter/skinnier, but in fact a much healthier weight!

My partner was having a chat with work colleagues about a member of staff who'd either let herself go a little, or lost some weight (I can't remember which, but would imagine it was the former), and my missus was quite bold and said something to the effect of "but i'd imagine she'd still be classed as being obese" - the response from teh group was that my OH clearly hadn't got a clue about health etc and was being incredibly harsh, and that the woman in question was "a little overweight at worst". I've since seen said woman, and I'm sorry, but she'd blatently be classed as obese based on BMI! I often think Joe Public needs a bloody wake up call to what is/isn't healthy

Natural selection ... one day, maybe! First to get to the fruit & veg without stopping to look for chocolate survives?

Sorry Trin, no offence!
