Oooowwwwh.... now I've got to decide if I want to wear my Garmin or not as just show some kind of basic info (like stopwatch)... I wouldn't wear my HR chest strap though.
I've always thought I'd love to see how I pace a race!

Well don't have that screen available to you on the day, so technically you won't actually know until you have finished?

Indeed... up until now I'd just thought I'd run the entire race based on how I felt, I find that if I don't know how I'm doing I tend to keep pushing harder for fear of getting a slower time, and usually end up a little faster than planned Though if I can see I'm going fast on a stopwatch I can just as easily think "ah, i'm okay to slow down a bit".

A half mara is a long way to go and race based on how I'm feeling... hmmm.

Owain... it may well be worth getting rid of your 201 in favour of a 205 or 305 as the prices seem to have come down a lot, and I've never had a problem with losing signal out on a run - worst thing I had was waiting a few mins in the rain for it to find a satellite signal in the first place! Though usually it'll boot up and lock on within seconds!

I also strongly agree with you about really pushing ourselves from time to time to see what we can do, I always used to surprise myself, and now, although it's less of a surprise, it's always gratifying to see what I can do when I push myself

I think I have made my decision of upgrading, I will go gps hunting later today and see how much I might be able to get for my current GPS.

I waiting 5 mins the other day for the signal to lock on to my GPS and then within 2 mins in to the run the GPS beeped saying "Low signal". Stupid thing!

Anyway.......back to work I guess....

Well I was meant to have a 20 mile run today as part of my marathon training but after freefall abseiling off the Forth bridge I ended up not running at all!! I feel bad because this is part of the training for the marathon but I honestly felt tired and unmotivated. I plan on going out tomorrow for an hours run and then next weekend I have a 3 hour easy pace so lets hope I find the time for that one!

Don't beat yourself up over missing a run - as long as it doesn't become a regular occurrence it shouldn't affect your end result

phew! All week I was looking forward to the long run and then when the time came I just couldnt motivate myself, I also couldnt find the time. Its really hard to try and set 3 hours to one side to go for a run......heading out today though and its raining so it should be a nice run......I like running in the rain, it just seems easier.

Well I got up at 5:30 yesterday morning and went for my 3 hour run, I was pretty pleased with the result, I ran for the entire 3 hours and covered 16.88miles, I reckon I would have covered more distance if I hadnt been running on the beach for some of it.

My pace went from 12min /miles to 9min/miles once I got off the beach and on to the tarmac.....feeling good knowing I can run for 3 hours Another 10 miles and I have done the marathon!

Well tonight was great. I hadnt been out since the 1/2 Marathon on Sunday so decided to go for an hours run, but change the route a bit and throw in some steep hills.

Well, headed out, legs like lead but they soon eased up. Hit the first hill and cruised up it, was suprised how easy I found it, then went down the other side just to hit another hill, cruised up that as well, now I was getting worried! Hills arent meant to be easy....anyway, 30mins in I turned around and headed back but since the down hills were pretty long and steep I thought I would go up them on the way back, took the pace down a notch but still managed up them.
Got home and looked at my GPS, 7.03miles in 59.38 mins My best pace yet and I for the first time since I started running, I can actually say, I was running....not jogging (well for me anyway)

A couple of days rest seems to have done my legs wonders and actually made them stronger after the 1/2 marathon.......really looking forward to getting out again and running.
I've found that after a race I hit a bit of a low for some reason but tonights run really gave me the buzz for running again

O.
