Sometimes the best advice comes from people who are new to running... quite often peeps like me that have been running a while think we know it all and take our body for granted... it's then that an injury such as mine happens, which brought me crashing down to earth.
Over the past 6 months I feel like I've taken a 'refresher course' in 'Running and My Body'.
Nellie... don't think that you can't offer advice just because you're new to this sport. It's words from peeps like you that have helped me get back on track

well, I did it... ran 15 on Sunday and finished last week on 34 miles.
The acupuncture seems to be helping too, although my leg didn't feel up to the 3 mile run on Monday so will probably finish this week on about 35, if all goes to plan.
I'm not too worried about being 6 miles behind schedule though

Well done, Trinity. You must be feeling a sense of relief and achievement. I was a little hesitant to voice my opinion on your efforts last week, but I figured you knew I was just a newbie to running, and would take it in that spirit. So thanks for that.
Anyway, I also feel my own small sense of achievement: I've upped my distance now from running 3 miles per run to 4 miles per run. Plan to achieve a steady 10k by Christmas. I go from strength to strength (as long as my beloved dog doesn't pull my arm out of its socket on some of my runs with him when he has to be on the lead).

Thanks Karen...is that your dog in your pic?
You'll easily run 10k by Christmas if you're doing 4 miles now. Are you targetting a 10k race? If you are, which one?

Well... going by my last marathon time I do qualify for a seeded place in Miami marathon, and when I first entered this race I believed that I could nip in under 3.30.
But a lot has happened since then and I'm still nervous about how my leg is going to react beyond 20 miles. I really don't want to finish the other side of 4 hours again...it took me a long time to break that one.
So sub 3.50 should be a realistic target, providing all goes relatively smoothly in the next 12 and a half weeks
Did I just say 12 AND A HALF WEEKS!!!

Hi Trinity
Yep, that's my dog. His name is Jock, two-and-a-half years old, and I try really hard to keep him under control when meeting other runners on the road. But he's so friendly, that he generally manages to break their stride anyway, and I always end up apologising. He doesn't jump, but his tail is wagging so hard that his whole body sways from side to side.
No, I haven't yet got a 10k race in mind, but I'm looking around for one that's reasonably close to home.
Remind us of the date of your Miami marathon?

Karen... the Miami marathon is on 28th January
As for your 10k.... I have found one for you on Sunday 10th December
It's the Andy Reading 10k and this is what they say about it - Popular pre-Xmas race organised jointly by Bicester AC and Alchester RC. Proceeds of race to be shared with local charity. Flat, fast course with excellent venue facilities. Course record 30m 33s. Best bacon butties in Oxfordshire. Sounds perfect!
Here is the link: http://www.alchester-runningclub.co.uk/andy_reading.htm
go on go on go on....
