Well, that was certainly interesting!
Averaged 14mph on the bike (see attachment for hill profile). I was reasonably chuffed with that as I'm using a mountain bike with road bike tyres. I know that I could have pushed a little harder in places, but I still gave it some effort - it was flipping warm - 27 degrees when I left. The cycling, including stopping for traffic at a couple of junctions etc took around 50 minutes, I think with training, on a flatter course (like the tri is on) and with the possibility of using a dedicated road bike, I can get this time down by 5+ minutes.
Got back, jumped off the bike, drank about 300ml of water then headed straight out on the road for the 5k run.
Er - how weird is that! My mind was telling me that my legs were going quickly, but they weren't! It was the weirdest thing ever! It took about a mile, maybe a little longer to get into the swing of things. I did the first mile of the run in 11.5 minutes. If I set off and do this run without cycling beforehand, I'm at 9.30 - 9.50 by the mile point. The 5k took 35 minutes to run, which wasn't quick by any means, but I was hanging on at the end of the run and I was feeling weird at the beginning of the run.
Still - with enough practice, I should be able to get used to it.
I'm going to do another transition training session on Sunday afternoon/evening.
EDIT - I'll add the attachment now!
