Best 20 mile running time was 2hrs 1min (so again very roughly 2/2.25mins per mile slower)
and never walked a marathon but walked 50kms in 4hr 30min 57sec
so must have gone through the marathon in around 3h 48min (assuming even pace)
64 mins slower but still 2.25 mins a miler slower

Do have a unique record though - only man to have walked the London to Brighton faster than I'd run it! First time I ran it I took 8hrs 47min but walked it a few years later in 8hr 35m
55sec (subsequently ran it in 7=15-32 though)

Would they laugh if I couldn't do the correct technique though?

I mean, I'd be speed marching, & they'll be doing it "properly".

Could pick up some tips though....

I need to find a way to get faster when I have to walk bits of the Paras 10, & this technique could be the answer......

No they wouldn't laugh - they'd encourage you!
If it's the usual course it will be an out and back on fairly quiet roads

I think there's food laid on afterwards too!

I do PBs about every 2 - 4 weeks but I'm cheating really cos I only started running in July. Can I still be a "veteran" or am I just an old bloke trying to run?

You people seem to do a lot of big mileages. Mine are usually 5m or 10k (max so far)
