Rainproof and probably short immersion. You can't swim in it although people have tried.

Resurrecting an old thread here - I charged my Garmin a week ago last Tuesday. It was powered off when charged and was off when I unplugged it from the charger. When I tried to use it last night the battery was dead. Does the 305 lose charge when turned off???

Ito.

Yes I think it does. Even when off it keeps track of the time.

Did it come on at all Ito.

Or was it completetly dead.

If it was completely dead it might need resetting.

If that is the case try this.

"To power the unit back on, press the "Mode" and "Reset" buttons at the same time. Let go of those two buttons, press the power button, and the unit will turn back on."

Rich has just mentioned in another thread about being able to adjust the pace smoothing that occurs. Has anyone changed this?

currently mine is set at what ever it was out of the box, and ive noticed (more reacently) that ill look at my 305 at one point and watch the pace bounce +/- 1-2min / km

I've changed mine to the least smoothing possible. I also changed it to record data every second rather than 'smart recording'.

Not sure about anyone else, but every single workout I have my pace graph in incredibly wavy... to look at it you'd think I was completely incapable of maintaining a steady pace!

so with least smoothing possible dosnt that mean that the pace is bouncing up and down or do you find that its easier to maintain a steady pace?

least smoothing means that when I look down at my garmin when running it tends to be more representative of what I'm doing... as for what happens on the graph, no idea! It's very different between the "every second" recording and "smart recording" though.

I find with more smoothing the on-screen pace just seems to lag behind a lot... i'll get to the bottom of a hill and slow down and my pace will still be increasing, lol.

Dave,

It came on. Tracked the satellites, lured me into a false sense of security and died about 1 minute into my run!

Leave the unit docked on the PC... that way you can always be sure it's charged and also you'll know where to find it when you get ready for your run

Thats exactly what I do! Go out on a run, come back dock it, it then sits there until my next run Havent lost it yet

Just changed mine to record every second as well, will see what it says tomorrow when I take it out for a run. It says if you are doing a run longer than 3.5 hours then to use the smart recording because it can't do the other option for longer than that.

I don't use smart recording as when I work away I do several runs before I can get to the computer. It will be interesting what you think of the results.

I have a laptop so can't really do that. I have found a nice tidy spot to leave my dock constantly on stand-by. My Garmin is now a feature of my bedroom decor
