3 x 2 mile repeats for 10k training So I'm starting to get a bit frustrated with my 10k training I have a race in a couple of weeks and I'm at the point where I tried to run 3 x 2 mile repeats at goal race pace this morning but I felt myself fading at at about the 3k mark so finished the rep did a 2 minute walking recovery and then tried to to do a second rep which after about 400m I knew I wasn't going to finish so I just stopped. Does anyone else think that a 2 mile rep at goal pace might be too long? I mean I can and have very recently done 5ks at about 30 seconds faster per mile than my 10k pace and last week I did 8 x 1km repeats at goal 10k pace with 90s jog recovery and I managed that ok. Also should note that I've not exactly had a hard week running I did a 30 min tempo run on Tuesday then rest Wednesday then did 30 mins easy on Thursday rest Friday and I felt absolutely fine this morning.
