Hi there. Ive just come off from a little layoff of a couple of months having had a bad bout of flu and a nasty chest infection over christmas. Ive just started running again but am slightly concerned that ive only got 8 weeks to train for a half marathon. Last july i did a 10k and that was fine. I just want to be sure that im not pushing it too hard for a longer distance and get injured.

Any advice really welcome.

Cheers. Ginger.

Well it can be done of course but build up slowly.Do you think you'll be able to do 5m as a long run this weekend ? If so leading up to the race you'll be able to do 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.5, 11 and 12m runs before the 13.1 on race day.

Did 5 at the weekend. Finding my fitness isnt great at the moment. Keep on stopping a few times half way round. But should be fine to up the distance a mile a week.

Cheers.

Listen to your body...if you need to stop for a stretch, breather, drink or whatever then stop.
Try to do 4 runs a week if you can and slowly build up stamina.
You can do it!
