Hello all,

from this 3 options, what would be your option for a marathon +- 4 hours and why?

Ultraboost 19
Freedom Iso 2
Pegasus 36

I have not used any of those specific models, but in terms of comfort, Saucnony would come out on top. Freedom Iso 2 come out as the lightest pair in you selection and they would be my choice, although I am a big fan of Adidas, the Ultraboost 19 are quite a heavy shoe and they would be last on my list. The Nike Pegasus are a long established model and combine good cushioning and are hard wearing, a good workhorse shoe.
I would rank the shoes:
1st Freedom Iso 2 (Light and comfortable)
2nd Pegasus 36 (comfort and proven history)
3rd Ultraboost 19 (too heavy in my opinion)

I am sure other runners will have a different take on it

How many pairs of shoes do I need for marathon training?

It depends on how many miles do you expect to run in training etc. there is no hard and fast rule.

I will start training for my next marathon at the end of November it's an 18 week plan, the marathon is in April 2022, and at an average of 50 miles a week, so 900 miles in total that equates to 3 to 4 pairs of trainers. I will rotate the shoe use. I will race in my racing flats, they currently only have about 50 miles on them. Obviously less mileage and or shorter training plan would reduce the number of pairs required.

I think I will go with Pegasus, UB looks ok but a bit heavy and I dont trust Freedom ISO for this distance, since I already did it with Pegasus once... lets repeat

If you are practicing about 5-10 miles per day, then you'll need around 4 or 6 pairs of running shoes. If you ask for brands, I bought "New Balance, Adidas, and Asics" brand marathon shoes for my practice.
