Hello all,

I am new to the forum and would like to say hello.

Although i have ran a few marathons as well as several shorter distances i am only just starting to take running more seriously.

My main reason for posting this thread is that i am going to purchase a monitor watch and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on good makes/models and the best places to look for one.

A few people here (me for one) swear by Garmin Forerunners, there's loads of different models of them. E-bay or internet shopping are generally the cheapest ways to buy them.

If you want cheap and cheeful.. Lloyds pharmacy used to do one for £10! I used it for a fair while and got along with it fine - I'd assume they still sell them?!

As for other makes and models, just do a google search, there's a few sites that specialise in heart rate monitors and have all the info you could ask for
