I'm in the preliminary stages of writing a book with a close friend who has run in a variety of ultra marathons over the years.

I've been doing my own research (Survival of the Fittest by Mike Stroud, Why We Run by Robin Harvie, Running Up That Hill by Vassos Alexander, Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes, Eat and Run by Scott Jurek, Born To Run by Christopher McDougall, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami, Jungle Marathon by Mark Hines, Running From Shadows by Mike Roe, and The Rise Of The Ultrarunners by Adharanand Finn are all on my to-read list), but I was wondering whether there were any other essentials that I'm missed?

Ideally I'm looking for books about people who are more happy with competing and challenging themselves rather than finishing in the top end, so more everyman tales I guess.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
