Today was my first run (in several years). I am very excited about my new hobby. I can't wait to wake up early tomorrow and run again. However, I just read that beginners should run every other day for two months to give the muscles and tendons time to adjust. I understand this, but two months!?!? Is this length of time truly necessary? Can I wait 3 or 4 weeks instead? Thanks

Welcome to the forum Brad. Too much too soon is a sure way to injuries which will just slow your progress more, as I'm sure the more experienced forum members will tell you.

ps given your location expect some time-delayed exchanges !

how far are you running at a time?

post up your plans and i'm sure you'll get some feedback on what is sensible/realistic.

Have got extended family in S. Carolina...BEST THEY CAN DO IS WALK TO THE CAR!

It's important not to do too much too soon and to gradually build up mileage and increase speed.
