As a bit of a n00b I find much conflicting evidence regarding carbs.

On one hand I know they are high in calories, so I'm trying to cut them down to lose weight.

On the other hand I know they are good for energy in running.

How much carbs should one eat every week?

What should one go for and what should one avoid?

Cheers :)

Hi George :)
It depends on your goals. Do you want to lose weight? Don't eat too many. Are you training hard and keeping your weight steady within its desireable limits? Take it in!
Potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, cereals... Those are the best sources.

George,
If you are trying to loose weigh and you are not alone then you need to create a deficit of 500 calories a day. I can recommend Anita Bean's Food for Fitness.

Thats what I'd suggest too.

Fruits like bananas and apples also provide carbs and are handy snacks between proper meals.

Also, carbs have the same amount of calories as proteins, whereas fats have twice the amount of calories.
