I was searching the net in the hope of finding some information and hopefully some treatments for a couple of niggling ailments I've picked up whilst running and came across this site. Having read a couple of threads I think I may be on the right path to finding my answers, although with my 2 finger typing that may take a while.

Hi Zanshin,

The main problem is with my left knee. I sometimes have pain around the outside of the knee which I believe to be 'joggers' knee but have recently been getting pain down the knee cap. I wear a brace which helps a lot but I was hoping to discard that at some stage. I haven't seen a specialist mainly because the pain only occurs after a few miles of running and doesn't hamper my walking or every day movements, in fact the following day after running there doesn't seem to be any pain, or very little at least.
I've had my run analysed and have joggers to suit.

Zack, I suffered from a sore knee and kept putting off going to a physio, did it last week some simple stretches and I'll be right as rain. See Injuries thread.

Thanks Squint I think you're right, I'll have to get it checked out by a physio at some point, hopefully a few stretching excersises will do the trick.

Hi Zack,
Welcome to the forum.
If you do go to the physio, let us know what they say. Always interested in hearing what may cause certain pains.

Pain down the outside of the knee sounds like it's related to the Illiotibial band to me... check out ITBS (Illiotibial Band Syndrome) and for guidance on stretching... as a simple guide, try crossing your legs whilst standing up.. feet next to each other and bend over to touch your toes... you should feel the outside of one of your legs by the knee being stretched... then cross your legs the other way and repeat ;)

as for pain on the kneecap - nothing springs to mind but I'm sure either someone else can advise or you can find the answer with further searching :)
