I always find the 1st 2 miles the most uncomfortable and so really dont look forward to a run,how can i make this 1st stage of the run more bearable so i can enjoy the entire run? its mostly a mental thing for me rather than physical,do i need a shrink?:d

I think what you describe is not uncommon, I'm the same, the 1st mile for me is horrendous, but after that my breathing settles down and I seem to find it easier after that.

A mate of mine who I sometimes run with suffers from this at around the 5 mile mark and then after about 6 or so finds it settles down again.

Are you running the first mile too quick?
