Hi All,

I’ve booked to run my first half marathon on Sunday the 28th of November, but it’s occurred to me that on Thurs 25th November we are joining some American friends for thanksgiving which I understand could be a large meal! I’ll try to be “good” but it occurred to me that it might be a bad idea doing that so close to the race.

There’s not really much I can do about it but I was wondering if I eat sensibly aside to that meal will I be generally ok for the race?

I currently do 2 10k a week and 1 5k. My current 10k pace is usually 6:30 min/km but I can do faster, recent (this year) PB 57:30, as a start Half Marathon training I did a 12.5km run last night at 6:36min/km pace and that felt comfortable. My target half marathon time is 2hr 15min, is this realistic?

Thanks all!
James

Eating on Thursday will not be a problem, I would avoid drinking alcohol though as that can cause dehydration.
