Firstly congratulations on making the effort. Second go to a decent running shop get some good running shoes. Start slowly gradually building up your distances and times. Don't be afriad to walk if you need to.

Hey welcome to the forum :d

It's great that you want to take up running, it's an extremely effective way of getting fit if you stick with it.

Advice for shoes - you deinfitely want to get yourself to a specialist running shop where they'll be able to see what type of shoe you need, ie whether you need more cushioning, if you have neutral gait or not... blah blah. If you tell us approx where you live there's probably someone close by that can recommend a good shop! I've found that shops of the sweat shop chain are very good!

Anyway, some misc advice - get out there and enjoy yourself, it's what counts the most :d Good luck! :d

There is a running shop in Manchester called Up and Running it's in the Triangle shopping centre. It's a good shop and the sales assistants really know their stuff.:)
