I've finally taken the plunge and signed up for my first marathon. I'm going to do the Frankfurt marathon on 28th October.

This should give me enough time (just the nine months!) to squeeze in a couple of half's and my first first triathlon.

A lot of runner's in my club, including the coaches, have run marathon's so I have a bit of experience to learn from.

Any extra tips/advice from you guys would be appreciated too. Thanks

Good news - I managed to get round the course and am also able to still walk.

I managed 4:34:57 - I was aiming for sub 4:30 and was on course for this until about 36-37km when my legs turned to lead.

Never again! I'll leave the long races to you and the other forumites, Trinity.
I'm sorry, but now you've done one you don't have a choice anymore...you're now under the spell

Well done Grant! And you'll see that once the pain goes away you'll start thinking about doing another one ;)
