hello all, sorry this is my first post and a bit of advice needed!! I am 49 (may be relevant) and I think fit. Have always gone to gym approx 3/4 times a week. Got started on running a couple of months ago. First of all once round then trcak then 4 times round now have got up to 3 miles. I really really enjoy it but think I have done an injury to myself.
I did a 3.5 mile run the other week, felt fine with no probs till I got out of bed the next day. My heel hurt and at first I thought it may have been the achilles tendon so I dodnt go to gym or run for a week or so. I tentaively started running on treadmill and did 10 minutes. I cant say it really hurt next day but it wasnt right. Have ran a mile on 2 seprtate occasions since and both times it just hurts a bit the next day. Also now in the morning I hobble down the stairs like an old lady and after I have been on the soafa for a while. After a few minutes it gets more mobile. I do wear highish heels (2 inch) or so to work but am always barefoot at home. the pain seems to come from the bone on the just outside edge of my outer foot
Now the other problem is the hip on the opposite side. After a run (day after)the ball and socket joint gets a bit painful.
Now I really love my running but is my body saying.. hold on there, give it up. Have I got arthritis all of a sudden? I have read about plantar faciitis (??) could it be this. Should I see a therpaist of some kind?
I thought it may be my shoes- they are just some cross trainer type i have had for a couple of years. If I can continue to run then I guess I will have to get some proper ones but dont want to spend a lot of money if my old bones have just had it. Can anyone advise.?
