Hi

just started getting into running after a colleague of mine challenged me to do the 10k Tees run in September.

I'm going to work to the training schedule in "Rough Guide to Running" to get me ready. Sold the car and started cycling to work about 3 months ago and lost a stone in weight since then (another stone off would be nice  ). Soon discovered that the muscle groups used for running are different to those used for cycling when the aches set in :p .

I'm looking forward to getting lots of advice and banter from everyone.

Went out today on my walk/run alternating training program. I thought I'd try picking up the pace and doing a bit of a sprint for the last 30 seconds. It felt really good! I tried this on my first ever run out and struggled like I was running through custard. This time though, I relaxed my upper body and lengthened my stride and it felt like I was leaping from foot to foot, much faster than my shambling jogging pace.
