Hi there, I've just joined the site.
I'm Dan from Manchester. I was reasonably active sports wise until a couple of years ago, but working long hours, traveling and eating on expenses took their tole lol! So I decided to get fit again and started regularly running in Feb this year. I like the idea of training for a goal so signed up for the Great Manchester 10k, Great North Run which I did yesterday and will be doing the NYC Marathon in four weeks.
Hopefully I'll be able to swap training tips and advise on here.

Welcome to RF Dan.

Trust you enjoyed GNR yesterday...is that where your 1/2m pb comes from?

How's the NY training going?

Hi Steve,
Yes I really enjoyed the GNR yesterday, the weather and atmosphere was great. Yes the time I've put for my 1/2 PB was set yesterday :) I'd aimed for 1:45, but was well happy with my time as the course was harder than I expected, especially the long 5 mile climb out of Newcastle. There was only 22 seconds difference between my 10 and 20k splits.

Training for NY is going well, doing 20 miles this Sunday and next, then I'll be ready, are you going?

Sounds like you've got training right for NY.
I'm not going...will do one day I suspect.

You were lucky with the weather yesterday!
Not an easy run to pb on..so many runners!! On that basis you should be able to break 1:45 on an easier course sometime.

Hi rob,
I'm in South Mancs, Hulme, where are you?
I tend to do most of my training around Hulme, Chorlton and Sale.

Oh yes it was packed, next time I'll turn up earlier and try to get closer to the front. Think I'll enter another 1/2 in the new year.
