Hello to all,

I'm new to the forum - well, actually I'm new to forums full stop - I'm a late starter!

I dabbled with running 3/4 years ago - ran a couple of 10Ks then due to a change in career, I found that I didn't have the time anymore (heard that one before??? Mind you, I always found the time for vino and socialising!).

To cut a long (and boring) story short I have since given myself a kick up the rear and have been, for the past three months, out in my running shoes...... it's going well so far.

Quite keen to get a 10K under my belt - I've heard that the Peterhead 10K is on 31st August. Any forum users up my way know about this 10K? I've had a gander at the born2run site and have contacted Jogscotland - can't seem to get any info on this.

Really, I just want to know how hard the course is, if it's mainly club runners (I wouldn't affront myself) and how to register. I'm signed up for the Human Race 10k on the same day so would be quite nice to actually run in an organised event.

Anyhoo....

Hi, there is a review of that 10K on the runnersworld website (think you have to be a member to view it) I read it a couple of nights ago. I think it might have said that it was quite a small race (maybe only about 100 people) but I think the reviews were fairly positive. If somebody hasn't given you a better answer by tonight then I'll look it up when I get home (can't look up RW at work as it's blocked:mad:) and post again.

I love the idea Scotland is a bit far north. My Scottish counterpart at work lives closer to or head office in Coventry than I do in Paignton.

Welcome Jac, I'm suitably far north but have no idea about the race. I have a workmate from the Blue Toon though so he might know I'll ask him about it.

Ye! Another Scottish runner :) Welcome to the forum!
Could be interested in heading up to Peterhead for this race myself. Will need to see how things go.

Thanks all for the welcome and info!

I finally heard back from one of the organisers - Owain for info, there's approx 90 runners with times ranging from 35 mins to 60. Currently, I'm pretty confident I'd complete in around 54 mins but that might be a little too close for comfort for my liking...... I don't want to be one of the last to complete - especially if it's mostly 'club' runners taking part. I'll wait and see how the next two weeks go.

Anyhoo, thanks again

Have you checked out the previous years results, I bet you wouldn't be last and even if you are it doesn't matter:d

I think I saw on the website that you can enter on the day so I think that will be what I will do if I end up in the area.
I reckon I should get in within the hour.

Hi
Welcome to the forum. I am over in Inverness but my daughter lives in Aberdeen and does lots of running - brilliant place for it. Good luck with the 10k.
