I would like to say big "HELLO" to everyone.
I am UK expat living in Prague, Czech Republic.
Years ago as a late teen used to run every night with a friend at least seven miles!!
However due to finances (or should that be lack of it as skint teen) I could never attempt proper half marathon etc.
Also did not have decent running shoes or clothes so although keen, tried a running club but felt like an idiot when everyone else had expensive running gear!:embarrassed:
Anyway now been thinking for a while I need to get fit and maybe finally try my crazy idea of running a half marathon!
Im in early 30s and think its now or never! So with that have decided going to start training.
I had thought of Prague half marathon and Prague marathon. However they are too soon. Half marathon in March, full marathon May I think. Dont want to rush things and put myself off. Like the say 'slow and steady wins the race!'
So as I am from the North East decided on the GNR!! Realise its choc full of people, but I could easily get to Newcastle and have no worries with accom as can stay with parents. So would be less nerve wracking running in a place I know.
GNR is in September so think this would give me 8 months to get fit enough to complete it in a decent time.
Then maybe March 2008 do the Prague HM or even the full marathon!!
Is this realistic GNR in September considering Ive never ran for years?
Ive entered the charity ballot, is it hard to get one of these places? What are my options for getting a place in 2007 GNR?
Looking forward to reading your posts and getting some tips!
Prahalady
PS, will be doing any half marathons on my own!
