I've got sub-patella tendonitis, for about a year now.
I've rested it and it went away for a while but keeps coming back.

I'm icing it, but am looking into getting some heat on it.
Does anybody know of a good value heat-therapy pad which I can apply to the knee?

I'd like an electrically powered one which can supply constant heat for a while, not a microwabable one that will only last a few minutes.

Any comments?

hiya,if you have sub(infra-) patella tendinitis(osis) then there will be a biomechanical cause underlying it,so id suggest you get a one-off assessment by a clinician who knows what they are talking about, they should be able to provide you with a stretching/strengthening programme so that you can self-manage this and prevent its return;theoretically, you are better off sticking to ice treatment but if you have had it for so long the inflammatory process has prob died down and replaced with scar tissue, which maybe helped by deep massage(something you could do)..years ago drs may have wanted to inject corticosteroid but that is now not done for good reason; however,if you did get desperate and got to see an orthopaedic sports medicine specialist he maybe prepared to "pepper" the tendon with steroid...good luck
