I very recently took up jogging and I'm already suffering. Whilst jogging I feel fine but the next day I have aching pain in my left knee, it happens every time and take all day to wear off, what could be the cause? how can I avoid this?

I know its bad form to reply to your own post but I've just spotted another thread on here about knee pain which mentions it could be down to not stretching enough, I''ll try more stretching tomorrow and see what happens!

Hi Liz3yy can you explain more about your knee pain? ie where abouts on the knee, how the pain feels, is it there all the time, when you bend your knee etc.

Does it get better after a day's rest?

I know from experience that if you keep getting pain best to lay off the running and see a Dr or a physio.

Aye, have a good stretch afterwards if you're suffering, try to run on some softer surfaces if possible. Of course if you haven't already, get yourself kitted out with some proper trainers from your local running specialist.

Hi, the pain I had experienced was just under the knee only on the left side. It was worse walking up and down stairs and seemed to get worse too as the day wore on.

After my last jog on Thursday where I pushed myself a little more I had a good stretch aftewards and the next day I had no pain at all!

I've got the same problem in both knees in exactly the same place. I'll try the stretching and see if that helps. I thought it might just be down to the steep learning curve your muscles, ligaments and tendons are going through when taking up running.

I am new to running and have a pain below my knee on the inside of my left knee only. Its so bad that there is NO WAY i could even contemplate running. I'm struggling to walk to be honest and it aches like hell.

Off to see the GP later for some pain busting anti infams and analgesia. I'm so miserable I can't get back out there and need to start my training from scratch :(
