For some reason I decide that I would do a Triathlon before the end of 2017. As a taster I have entered a duathlon at Mallory Park on Sunday (13/11/2016) 3K run, 11K bike ride and a 2K run. I fully expect to well to the back of the race as I am nowhere near fit.

I have also started to put a swim session in my training week, short and slow at the minute but hoping to get better over the next few months.

Watch out Brownlee's I am coming for you :lol::lol:

Once I had 3 marathons under my belt, I was also entertaining the idea of doing a triathlon (especially given the fact that I was also doing 1h-long non-stop swims at my gym almost every Sat and Sun), but it has since faded away... btw, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my gym was actually organising indoors(!) triathlons now and then, didnt know such a thing existed - limited to 6 participants, I think. Cannot recall now how long each discipline was - I think you had to swim 400m in the pool, quickly change, get on a gym bike and do 10K, then jump on a treadmill and run 5K. I might be wrong about the actual length of each of the distances but you get the gist.

re: short and slow at the minute - I was rubbish when I started. It was all about sorting out my breathing technique and I gradually went from 20min to 1h non-stop.

Good luck with your race!

I did my first duathlon over a similar distance about 6 weeks ago. Absolutely loved it! Would reccomend it to anyone. You will enjoy it, it's such good fun. Was great to have something different. Cycling was ace. Jelly legs after that for my final run though, but that was part of the fun!

Just been busy checking over my gear, there is a lot more to think about than in a running race. Weather is looking good for tomorrow cool but bright. Looking at the entry list there are only 26 entrants in the mens race, so it may get a bit spread out :)
