I will be using this thread to track what i do day to day to keep me on track. For context i am 26 bit out of shape due to medication & lifestyle choices. I want to changed so i will state my goals bellow

1st goal = run 3 miles a day
2nd goal = run 6 miles a day
3rd goal = run 3 miles in 30 mins
4th goal = run 6 miles in 60 mins
5th goal = run 6 miles in 54 mins
6th goal = run 6 miles in 48 mins
7th goal = run 6 miles in 42 mins

At the time of me writing this thread i have already been running for 9 weeks so below i will post my progress. Please comment or not 馃憤

Week 9

18/10/2021 to 24/10/2021

Monday i did 38min 21 seconds on the treadmill
the speed from 0 to 6 min was 3.9,
speed from 6 to 11 was 4.5
speed from 11 to 16 was 3.9
speed from 16 to 21 was 4.5
speed from 21 to 38.22 was 3.9

The same for every day of the week was similar a few seconds difference on each day.

Total distance for the week was 18.2 miles
best 1 mile time currently is 14.30 min

Conclusion is improvement from last week 9 weeks running i am closer to my goals i can hope to look forward to a 12.50min 1 mile time by the end of the year which may not seem like much bit i was running/attempting to walk a 1 mile time at around 17min 50 seconds. I am ok with the progress updates will come daily.

Next week goal is to run 18.9miles for the week and to increase speed by 0.1 on the treadmill.

ps i would add the kcal i burn into this but seems overkill it usually goes up 7 a week per session so 49 kcal total a week.

You're doing a great job of taking up running and changing your lifestyle. You can do it if you really want to! Remember, you can't get another life. There is no afterlife until it is proven.

Monday i did 38min 53 seconds on the treadmill
the speed from 0 to 5 min was 4,
speed from 5 to 11 was 4.6
speed from 11 to 16 was 4
speed from 16 to 21 was 4.6
speed from 21 to 38.53 was 4

kcal burned was 189

distance 2.7miles

the speed from 0 to 5 min was 4,
speed from 5 to 11 was 4.6
speed from 11 to 16 was 4
speed from 16 to 21 was 4.6
speed from 21 to 38.53 was 4

kcal burned was 189

distance 2.7miles

run was a bit later into the evening 10pm i think

run was at 7pm it felt a bit harder today i need to adjust my pre workout meal to see if that will impact tomorrows run then write it down i will sum that up tomorrow

run was at 8pm it felt better than last night still adjusting to this speed

Seems harder than it should be but my head is in a weird place so i will say that is why it was off a bit.

Thinking about my goals i wonder what is the best way to tackle them. I think going for the 3mile one is the best bet then 6 miles in 60mins.
After that taper off to get a 7min mile

Your schedule seems a little repetitive to me, you are doing the same distance at the same speed each day, try doing some longer and slower runs plus some shorter and faster runs.
You could split your run into different segments, start slow build up to a faster pace and hold it for a while, ease back the pace, then a slow paced finish.
My coach used to say "If you train the same you remain the same".
These targets are all within your capability, you just need to find the best way to get there.

I have gone up for the past 10 weeks each week until it stops working is when i will change it i plan to change it in 2 weeks to something else.

week 10 conclusion

total time running was 270mins Or roughly 4 hours 30mins
Total distance was 18.9 miles ran
Total calories burned was 1323 kcal burned

Plans for next week just go up slightly faster on the treadmill for another 3 weeks by that time 3miles will be a daily thing i will then look to change the interval training times to push a bit more.

Friday i did 39min 24 seconds on the treadmill
the speed from 0 to 5 min was 4.1 speed,
speed from 5 to 11 min was 4.7 speed
speed from 11 to 16 min was 4.1 speed
speed from 16 to 21 min was 4.7 speed
speed from 21 to 38.53 min was 4.1 speed

kcal burned was 196

distance 2.8miles

not bad felt harder i did have a headache which made it worse this will be a better week
