Hi

after years of thinking about it and being scared about it, I have finally ventured outside and started running. Finally got over my initial embaressment (there really was no need to be) and although I've got a long way to go, I've started to enjoy myself already!

If anyone has some beginners advice, I'd appreciate it. I've signed up for a 5k race so taking it day by day at the moment.

Welcome to the forum Spencer.

Any advice I have, you seem to have done anyway. That is to get out there and run and then sign up for a race. The fact that you're enjoying too is a real advantage. Good luck in the race!

welcome spencer... you've taken the hardest step, now the real fun starts.

To begin with take it very steady, while your body gets used to this new activity and all the strains you're going to put on your joint and muscles.

The main thing you need to do is listen carefully to your body, it'll tell you if you are doing too much too soon... enjoy :)
