Hey!

This is my 1st post on the forum. And it coincides with my first day of training for a 10k which takes place in September.

I've been out of action for the last year and a bit as I injured my achilles tendon while playing football.

I'm a tad concerned about reinjuring myself, any tips to avoid this?

Any particular training techniques i should avoid?

Hi EMD,
Welcome to RF.

Good on you for deciding to run a 10k race.

First advice is make sure you have the correct running shoes. Go to your local running shop if you havent already and they should offer you free Gait Analysis. This makes sure you get the correct shoe for your running.
Then take it easy, don't push yourself to hard. How much running had you done in the past?

You might well be suprised how quickly your running comes back to you, go out and see how you get on, if you need to walk, walk. If you feel OK then work on that the next time you go out.

Start with a couple of miles running / walking and take it from there.....
