Hi

I did the Nike 10k yesterday and although I was pleased to get round, I was disappointed that I had to walk several times (only for about 30 secs each time) and my time was very slow, 69 mins. I now need to know how to shave nine minutes off my time! I did a 5k in 32mins a few weeks ago.

Any advice welcome

Congrats on your first race. I have my first race next month and like you I am looking for a 60 minunte time.

I think I am going to have to join a club as that's where we newbies are likley to get the advice we need.

Well done again. :)

Join a club for sure but also give yourself training time to get used to running the distance so that you can keep going without stopping. Secret is to go really slow so you can talk as you jog...best to run with someone or people may think you are mad!
