I read in the paper recently about an athlete who swore by eating nuts after a race as they're a good protein source. What does everyone else pack in their bag to eat after an event?

banana and a bar of chocolate usually. Then I'll have a couple of quid for a pint or two, not the healthiest of choices from me!!

After reading an article about taking protein after exercise about 4 months ago, I started eating a small bowl of mixed nuts after each training run, and I do think that I`m recovering quicker than I was before I started having them. So there might be something in it

All I want is water after the race has finished.
Then reward myself with a few pints in a local pub. After the pub, home for a nice cooked lunch and a much needed sleep.

I`m sure there is more talk of beer than running on this forum these days. Suits me.

At my old club we used to describe ourselves as drinkers with a running problem!
