Hi,

I started running again at the start of the lockdown previously ran before quite often.

My left foot has always been quite dry around the heel but since running again it's really dry and cracked on the padded part at the base of my big toe.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what could have caused it.

After a run (approx 10k) the skin can be so cracked that it's away from the skin on the foot.

I've tried soaking them and using cracked heel cream twice a day for a week and also tried covering them in thick moisturising cream.

Any tips would be great.

Hi, podiatrist here

You have callus there so it can get dry as there isn't great blood supply in this area of the body-Lots of friction and pressure going on in that area when you run.

Best you can do is file regularly and get a moisturiser called 'flexitol heel balm' use that every day until it resolves then use once or twice per week to keep everything running nicely
