Last year I ran in the Men's Health Forum 10K at Bellahouston, Glasgow in June, and followed that with a Jogscotland 5K in Glasgow in July. As is common with races you've done before I got emails a few months ago asking if I wanted to sign up this year again. I did so without really paying attention, and only discovered recently that the 5k had been brought forward to June........so what I've just ended up doing is running in the 10k on Sunday, followed by the 5k last night (Tuesday). Not sure I'd recommend as regular practice, but it worked out OK, with PBs in both (44:41 & 21.21) :d

Thanks, Bagpuss. tbh once I realised the dates, and even after Sunday, my intention was still to do the 5k, but take it relatively easy. But you know what it's like, lining up at the start the adrenaline starts going and I thought just go for it and see what you can do. Was well chuffed to get the pb. The guy who won it finished in 14:23!

I am supposed to be doing a 10k ladies race next weekend, but have an all day pub crawl on the Friday (one off of course!) didn't think ahead and realise it was July 1st on the Sunday, thought we had only just got into June!

I don't think a PB will be achieved somehow, maybe I will go easy on the beer and see what happens.

Great result Carlton, you must be really pleased with yourself.

I did something similar aswell this year I did 2 half marathons only 7 days apart, because I wasn't happy with the time I did on the first one pb'd on the second but not by much probably should have given it a bit more time ha ha

Good luck Baggy, with both :d

Thanks Twinks, I am trying to muster up some 'lost' willpower and keep off the booze.......most of the time. By the way, love the Garmin, bought a 205, really pleased with it, thanks for all the advice.

I have done a 5k and 3k steeplechase in the same meeting.
Athletes in NCAA competition in the USA often do 10k,5k and 3k steeple on the same weekend.

My 15 year old nephew won the 100m, 200m, triple jump and 4x100ms ( in which he was allowed to run 2 legs...can't see how that should be allowed but there you go) at his school sports day this week.

Can't get him to join local club though.

When you say the "same meeting" do you mean same day?

At my first ever Track & Field meeting on the Dorothy Hyman track at Cudworth in South Yorkshire I ran the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m, all in the same evening, and won all five. Having taken the British MV60 marathon championship shortly before that, and being regarded as a long distance specialist, it came as quite a shock to some of the track Prima Donnas!
Cheers!
