Hi all,

I am fairly new to running and have been experiencing calf pain in my right leg that always comes along with inner ankle pain. I am an overpronator on the right side and have the correct trainers for this. I managed to run a 10k with no pain whatsoever, however sometimes I cannot even run 5k without the pain stopping me and causing me to walk. I would be able to run through the ankle pain which is a dull ache, however the calf pain feels dull and achey with some intermittent sharp and stabbing pains.

I have started a training plan as I am supposed to be running the London Marathon in April, but I know that this is going to be an issue when increasing my mileage.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced a similar problem? Any advice is welcome.

Hi, if I was you I’d go and see a podiatrist who specialises in running / impact sport and who has facilities to do a gait analysis.

It could be that you’re running style is causing the problem or your foot that is causing the problem.
