I like to run fasted in the morning, immeditely after my first movement of the day, in both senses of the word. I saw a paper once that said men benefit from training before eating, whereas women after, so that's ok. The advice on Diarrhea After Working Out: Causes, Treatments, and Home Remedies seems a good summary. The charcoal thing would be for absorbing poisons and is not appropriate here.

On occasion I have this problem, but certain foods make it more likely. For example, the day before a run I try to avoid chillis, beans, high-fibre foods, kale. In the hours before a run I avoid milk or other dairy products, raisins, coffee. Consistent with the "Things to avoid" section of the article above.

I also have my running routes go through or near greenery or woodland areas, so I can stop off if necessary. I take a packet of "Handy Andies" tissues with me, which fits in the pocket of my running shorts.

Well I have mostly managed to avoid this for about 10 years until today. I normally run along woodland paths so would have been ok to nip into a bush if needs be, but today decided to go for a sightseeing run in town.

Similar to above, I went before my run, was only doing an easy 8 miles, and then all of a sudden while I was running along a main road, got the urge with nowhere to hide and it just didnt want to stay in. 馃が. I sort of squatted down thinking I will catch it and then tuck it behind a bush, but it came out like custard so that wasn't going to happen. I tried to carry it in my shorts and hobble further along the road to a bush I knew I could climb into the middle. I then let it out, and walked home.

I'm putting this down to my metabolism being totally wonky after a night out the night before...

I find I need 2 movements in the morning before I go out (this is before eating). The first one is just after getting up, but then I have to wait for up to 30 mins for the second. It's only after the second that I feel 'empty' and unlikely to suffer poop issues mid-run.
