i have runners knee on both knees for a few weeks now. at first it was extremely painful, i felt like i needed a wheel chair to get around. but thankfully it started to improve, maybe it's at a 5 now. i'm able to walk at almost a normal pace without much pain and. some aggravations here and there, but icing usually takes care of it. my problem is, i have a 5k coming up on the 9th and i really want to run it, but i also don't want to further mess up my knees.

any advice? should i do the 5k?

i've been stretching and icing it everyday. also do i ice once, twice or three times? i've seen all options. i'm doing it once sometimes twice for ten minutes everyday.
