New runner. Been trying to get into it a few years but kept getting injuries but now I thought I finally cracked it by using a treadmill to get a bit stronger and fitter before I go back outdoors.
I have shin splints and calves like elastic bands (I play field hockey and running on astroturf and the season starting has made this worse). I warm up well, stretch calves daily, wear compression socks and sleeves but get to about 10mins in to a run and it feels like my calf is going to tear like last time. I’m overweight so I know that doesn’t help but anything anyone has that I’ve haven’t tried for shin splints and calf
I have no aspirations to be a distance runner but would love to comfortable run 5k a few times a week for fitness.
