Hi there

My son aged 14 is wanting to get fitter and he decided that running would be a good way to do it. He has asked me to join him and I am 45. I have been walking daily about 3 miles everyday but have not done much running. Actually I did a 5k run about 3 years ago in 45 mins.
We started yesterday doing a 20 min combination of running and walking but are open to any advice. Our aim is to get fiitter and lose a bit of weight. Nish my son is very sporty -plays football, rugby, cricket and tennis but would play better if his fitness level was better.
Like the sound of the book Marathon mum - who is the author?
Looking forward to learning from you all.

Hi there, I only joined yesterday, welcome to you and your son. I'm also in my forties and have only been running about six weeks. What you're already doing sounds fine to me, I'm now just up to 30-40 mins of running/walking about four times a week and am trying to extend the running and shorten the walking, have posted a message asking for advice myself yesterday but so far have had no reply.
Keep up the good work,
Lorraine.
