I was told at weekend that I was lucky because I had "split calves". I've always been quite conscious of my calves. They're not exactly big... but you can't miss them. I'm dress size 10 and have always had trouble getting zip up boots to fit :embarrassed: So they've always been there, but I have noticed even more definition since I began the running.

So, what's all this "split calves" about - and how am I fortunate to own a pair?

Very difficult to find any useful information on the subject but I suppose that the compliment is about the muscle definition.
So, you would be lucky because you have strong, well defined, good-looking ;) , athletic calves.

Most pro cyclists have very split looking calves. I think it's something to do with the muscle length as runners tend to have short calves and cyclists have longer ones.
