So used to run about 20 miles a week around 8 years ago(cant believe that time as flown by).
To be honest I think it helped with mental health as well as physical.
So as well as being currently about 2 stone overweight I think I need something to clear my head as I tend to over think. Might be anxiety I don't now. Used to drink to switch off a bit but gave that up 4 years ago.

Surprising how your life and socialising revolves around alcohol. Giving alcohol up seems to have knocked my social life on the head.

So anyway here I am. Out of shape and overthinking with no real outlet from the daily grind.

Running it is and I know if I can get back into it the rewards are there.

I imagine this may be a common story so wish me luck guys.

Yeah, good luck! I gave up alcohol a couple of years back and it's a bit of an eye opener how much seems to revolve around it. Not that I miss it, though - I still do everything I want, since the act of drinking itself was never the point.

To me drinking is an age thing - as you get older, you can take it or leave and your life doesn`t revolve around it as much. Depending on the circumstances, I can happily go out now and not drink at all, even when everyone else is. Where as when I was younger there was no way I`d have done this. I still like a drink, but only in moderation and if I know I`m not going to be running the day after.

Yes when I was working and often under pressure, my running was the thing that reset my brain when I started thinking negatively. I could see the positives after a decent run. No drinking for me either these days, but I have a liking for 0.5% beers such as Adnams Ghost Ship or Brewdog Nanny State and Erdinger 0% wheat beer is supposed to isotonic?
