Hi I am fairly new to running I first started about 2 months ago and every time a run I get a side stitch. I have tried a long warm up, walking before hand and eating just a slice of toast 3-4 hours before running. Last week I ran my first 10k however I kept getting a sharp pain in the central upper abdomen which in order to run I had to push the area in with my fingers. I thought that it was just a stitch but I have had a stitch many times and this feels more painful and it is higher and in the middle of my abdomen . Today I planned to run as normal but I got half a kilometre in and had to stop because of this pain normally I would run on pressing my stomach in the whole time however today it was a lot earlier than normal and more painful. Does anyone know how to help ?:)

It sounds like diaphragm pain to me. Why don't you google around a bit and see if that matches? If so, deep breathing and not always in on the same footfall side could help.
