I wasn't sure if this fits in with clothing or here...

I've found that since running longer distances no matter which shorts or underwear I wear I seem to get a painful rash where the waistband goes below my belly button and about two inches either side.

My tummy doesn't stand out there and can't understand why it keeps appearing - as I can't feel any rubbing when I am running...

can anyone offer any advice, I don't really have 'proper' running shorts just some addidas sports shorts which I usually wear a pair of briefs under or not if shorts with lining :embarrassed:

is it a rash as in irritation or has it acutally worn the skin away and started to scab?
i would suggest putting something like vasaline on at least until it settles.

do you tie the waste band to stop them moving as it will prob be the shorts twisting to the left and then right again that causes it.

also have you tried a different washing powder?

hi

more of a rash / irritation - and stings like hell when I get in the shower!

I think I'll give vasaline a go - never tried that.

No, I don't tie shorts up either - I'll give that a go too!

Thanks!

if the shorts are loose, then tying them up certainly should help - and a thin layer of vaseline will help resist any chaffing (no need for huge clumps of the stuff ;))
