You need to go to a proper running shop with staff that know what they are talking about...ie are runners themselves... and get yourself measured for the right shoe for your feet.

Hayley you won't be alone and they are pretty used to it - I think it throws them more when people are pretty clued up.

I agree with you on that, some people havent the hardest jobs in the world, but ask them a Q about something they should know and its like getting blood out of a stone.
One other question if i go to a shop like this do i have to buy the shoes from there?

No you don't if they don't offer you anything you like or you think you can get the shoe cheaper on the internet - most running shops will offer a 10% discount and you don't have to pay for postage. I always feel good about supporting my local running shop but I do buy shoes from elsewhere. Shoes are your most important part of your kit so its worthwhile getting the right shoes for your running instyle. The shoes that you said you are running in sound like a bog standard pair bought on the high street? I had the wrong shoes to start with and got lots of running injuries.

As someone who has worked in specialist running shops I LOVE it when people come in,try shoes on, ask for my advice then sod off to buy them off the web. Love it, makes my day!!!
