I have also been known to carry one or two in a half marathon if I'm going to race hard. I needed one at the half marathon I did last week so I was glad I had it

I took four when i did the half, 1 half hour before. 5, 10 and 15k points. Probably very much over kill but as it was my first i played it safe. Is it possible to take too many?.

Never. I have plenty of fat I want to burn up before using the energy in gels ;)

Seems there is a shortage of another 'never' option!

i've never heard of an energy gel...

i've never seen an energy gel in the shop...

and i've never seen anyone use them at races...

so i guess it isn't something for 1-5 mile races then... !
