Well. The book arrived and I read it in 24 hours.

I actually think it is about a different bloke to the one talked about in this thread. What an unassuming man who admits his mistakes, works full time and dotes on his family whilst undertaking some extreme personal challenged to deal with his own issues.

I liked him from what I read. And would love to meet him in person. :tup:

Have you actually read the book? It is anything but boastful and makes none of the claims you seem so incensed about.

Aye finished it today. Didnt find Dean to be anything like some folks described him. /shrug
In fact, as far as books go... this is one of the better ones Ive read and Ive got a fair number of them.

Seemed a genuine person to me and not one of those types that likes to state opinion as fact. ;)

i disagree with the fraud bit. The man is 100% the ultra marathon man. If he was a fraud he wouldnt be sponserd by North Face would he ? The other thing is alot of people are correct the only reason why he writes books etc is because this is what feeds his family so he can carry on doing the job he loves which is running. I have bought his book and enjoyed reading about his life. He puts the time in and gets good results because of the timehe puts into his training. I can not see why you think this man is a fraud come on play the game here......

not read the thred but to the op... if you pause the vid at 2.29 you will find the answer.. there is a massive upward turn in lactate at 9-9.5 mph
if he is an ultra endurance runner he will very likley be able to sustain 9 mph for long periods of time he will be unable to do much faster for long.

so what can he do 2.40?

That shot also of him on his heel seems to not be the norm if look at his running during other parts of clip.
Even if it was who cares is it a crime to heel strike.
As for a fruad the guy seems like a top chap I even had a personal email reply off him once. How many people would take the time and effort to reply to an email when he must get thousands.
He must also raise a fortune for various charities.
So basically go DEAN :)
